UHY Farrelly Dawe White (UHY FDW) has announced the appointment of Colm Hedderman as Director, Business & Tax, further strengthening the firm’s advisory capability across accounting and tax and adding specialist experience in advising private clients

Colm brings 20 years of professional experience advising individuals, professionals, owner-managed businesses and high-net-worth clients.

A Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland, Chartered Tax Consultant and Qualified Financial Advisor, Colm has extensive experience across personal and corporate taxation, financial reporting, succession and retirement planning, pension structuring, corporate reorganisations and personal financial planning.

"Throughout my career, I've believed that the best outcomes come from understanding the whole picture and building lasting relationships with clients. Joining UHY FDW gives me the opportunity to do that across an even broader range of clients, supported by an exceptional team and international network."

He has developed particular expertise advising medical consultants and their private practices across accounting, tax and financial planning, considering both the needs of the practice and the consultant’s wider personal financial position. His client experience also extends to barristers, high-net-worth individuals & theirfamilies, personal service companies and investment holding companies.

His approach focuses on considering a client’s wider financial position rather than individual areas of advice in isolation.

Colm Hedderman, Director, Business & Tax Advisory at UHY FDW, said:

“Two things drew me to UHY FDW. The first is the breadth of the role. The firm was looking for someone who could work across accounting and tax and that's how I've always practised. Combined with the range of sectors and clients the firm acts for and the reach of the wider UHY network for cross-border work, it's a role with real variety in it, and after twenty years, variety is what keeps the work engaging.”

Before joining UHY FDW, Colm was a Partner in  a Top 10 accountancy and professional services firm and a boutique tax advisory firm in Dublin. During his time with the firm, he progressed from Manager to Partner and developed a significant portfolio of clients, including medical consultants and private practices, other professional services clients, high-net-worth individuals and investment holding companies.

Earlier in his career, Colm worked in both practice and industry, including a role as Financial Accountant with a large organisation in the food services and facilities management industry. This combination has given him experience from both the advisor and client perspective.

Alongside his client work, Colm has extensive experience in team development, technical training and practice improvement. He has managed and developed junior colleagues and led projects involving accounting software, practice management systems and internal processes.

Speaking about joining UHY FDW, Colm added:

“The people also drew we to UHY FDW. What struck me when engaging with the leaders about this role, was how long many of the team have been with the firm. In this profession that's telling. People stay where the work is good and where clients are looked after properly. That's the standard I've held myself to throughout my career, so I'm genuinely looking forward to working alongside colleagues who take the same view and to learning how a well-established team does things.”

Colm’s appointment reflects UHY FDW’s continued investment in building a broader advisory offering around the evolving needs of its clients. By combining expertise across accounting, tax, succession and corporate restructuring, the firm can provide more joined-up support to individuals, professionals, family businesses and owner-managed companies at every stage of their development. The appointment also strengthens UHY FDW’s capacity to support clients with increasingly complex personal and business decisions, while drawing on the international reach of the wider UHY network where cross-border expertise is required.
